Vietnam Earns Gold at Asian Junior Taekwondo Champs

ALMATY, Kazakhstan -- Vietnam punched its way to one gold, four silver and two bronze medals to finish atop the event, which took place from Aug. 19 - 21 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Gold medalist Ngoc Tram from Vietnam secured victory in the 68kg division after fierce battles with solid opponents.
Ngoc Tram out-dueled fighters from Japan and Thailand in the event¡¯s qualifiers before prevailing over a Kazak athlete in the semis.
The Vietnamese fighter clinched the championship after thrashing her Chinese opponent in the final.
Four silver medalists were Minh Thuong in women¡¯s 46kg, Thu Trang in women¡¯s 59kg, Thu Huyen in women¡¯s 63kg, and Phi Long in men¡¯s 78kg.
