Dr. Chungwon Choue, President of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), announced in a letter on March 30, 2009 that the I.R. of Iran Taekwondo Federation has been awarded the first of ten taekwondo centers that will be built in five continents.

In his letter Dr. Choue continued: "Following a comprehensive and extensive evaluation as well as considering the technical level of Iranian taekwondo, WTF has decided to award I. R. of Iran one of the ten WTF taekwondo centers worldwide."

WTF President pointed out that this center would be approved and sanctioned by WTF as long as the management of the I.R. of Iran Taekwondo Federation and the Taekwondo Center is approved by the WTF.

The Physical Education Organization and the National Olympic Committee of Iran should make the required guarantees to have this center up and running by mid 2010. Considering Iran's geographical range and easy access for many countries in the region "International Taekwondo Center" will be able to help World Taekwondo Federation and Asian Taekwondo Union in their effort for the advancement and development of Taekwondo in West Asia, Central Asia, South Asia and even some European countries.
